In Melbourne:-

At the last show of the year in Australia, the CVI FCCV Christmas Show. Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny male,  Merindalee Dustin Hoffman  (CCCA Gr Ch & Diamond Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford X Merindalee Whatacracker) was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 13) in one ring and R/U in the other ring. He is shown below with Eileen and judge Maureen Norberry (he is the only one not laughing!).

In Shepparton, VIC:-

At the FCCV Christmas Show. Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny male,  CCCA Gr Ch & Diamond Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford  (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Merindalee Demi Moore) was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 14) in both rings. He is shown below.

In Adelaide:-

Lori Fergusson's evergreen Tawny Somali Neuter, CCCA Dbl Gr Ch, ACF AoE, Supreme Dbl Gr Pr & Jade Dbl Gr Ch Vivace El Tigre De Oro (Gold Dbl Gr Ch Vivace Virtuoso X Ikati Big Spender), diid well at the last SA show of the year, the 2-ring Tandanya Christmas show. Hwas Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 17) in one ring and second in the other of the three rings. See him below.

In Brisbane:-

The 3-Ring Hinterland show, held on 8 November, Had good attendance despite being so late in the show season  Michael & Sue Shawn's Tawny female, Osiris(V) Norma Jean (Highgaitpaws American Edition (Imp USA) X Osiris(V) Special Witness), was Best SH Kitten (out of 46) in one of the three rings. She is shown below left. As well, Christine Mangin's Tawny spay, ACF Silver AoE & Sapph Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Lucrezia Borgia (Ch Cannonball of Wonderlove (Imp GER) X Osiris(V) Judge Judy)  was Best SH Desexed Cat (out of 7) in one ring and 2nd in another. In Brisbane:-

There was a huge class of kittens at the 4-ring Hinterland show on 5 October, but one Aby,  Michael & Sue Shawn's Tawny male, Osiris(V) Touch of Love (Osiris(v) Fast Talker Too X Osiris(V) Claudia Schiffer), was Best SH Kitten (out of 60) in one ring, and placed in two others. He is shown below left. The other winner was Michael & Sue's Tawny neuter, CCCA Sapp Tpl Gr Ch, ACF Aus Nat Pr & Ruby AoE, Dbl Diamond Dbl Gr Ch, Tpl Plat Dbl Gr Ch & Supr Ch Osiris(V) Fast Talker (Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat (Imp USA) X CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Osiris(V) Running Bear), who was Best SH Desexed Cat (out of 18) in one ring and R/U in another. He is shown below right.

In Adelaide:-

Some lucky people are still having shows! At the latest in Adelaide, The British Cats show on 26 October ,  Evelyn & Rita Bruche's Tawny Aby neuter, Brz Dbl Gr Ch Vivace King Amonasro (Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee King For A Day X Vivace La Divina), was R/U Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 20) in one ring, Best in the other ring, and then Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 54) . He is shown below.

In Melbourne:-

At the Bendigo Agricultural Show on 25 October, Dale Plummer's Tawny Somali male, Gr Ch Gunsmoke's Woodford Reserve (Imp USA) (Gunsmoke's Booker Noe X Arbora's Prairie Violet of Gunsmoke), was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 10) in one ring and R/U in the other ring.  He is shown below with judge Chris Merritt.

In Adelaide:-

At the single ring (!) Crazy Cat Capers show on 19 October,  Evelyn & Rita Bruche's Tawny Aby male, Brz Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee King For A Day (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Cenglow Elle Macpherson) was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 14), and will be shown below left when the photo comes. Their Tawny Aby neuter, Brz Dbl Gr Ch Vivace King Amonasro (Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee King For A Day X Vivace La Divina), was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 19) , and is shown below right.

In Adelaide:-

At the Festival Cat Club 3-ring show on 21 September, Sue Allen's Tawny neuter, Vivace The Boy From Oz (Brz Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee King for a Day  X Vivace La Divina),did well again: he was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 29) in one ring, and 2nd in another. He is shown below left with judge Val Harney.  Anne Kirtland's Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Talk Softly to Me was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 24) and Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 82) in one ring. Evelyn & Rita Bruche's Tawny Aby male, Brz Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee King For A Day (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Cenglow Elle Macpherson) was Best Gr 3 Cat and Best Gr 3 Exhibit in another ring. He is shown below right, with judge Claire Edwards.

In Port Pirie, SA:-

In Shepparton, VIC:-

Abys and Somalis won nearly everything at the Shepparton Agricultural  show on 11 October. Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny male, Merindalee Insp Clouseau (Gr Ch Fin Bheara's Fortune's Hand (Imp USA) X Merindalee Once Upon Atime), was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 5) in both rings, and Supreme Exhibit (out of 75) in one of them. He is shown below left. The Pittaways' adult Tawny  male,  CCCA Gr Ch & Diamond Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford  (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Merindalee Demi Moore) was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 15) in one ring. He is shown below 2nd from left with Eileen. The Pittaways' Tawny female, Merindalee Dorothy Lamour (Gr Ch Merindalee Dumbledore X Ch Merindalee Angelina Jolie) was Best Gr 3 Cat in the other ring. She is shown 2nd from right. Finally, Lee Clark's Tawny Somali Neuter, Gold Gr Pr Shilabo Catch Me Ifyoucan (Gr Ch Gunsmoke's Woodford Reserve (Imp USA) X Glenmaulyn Egyptian Jewel) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat in one ring (out of 9), and is shown in a splendid photo  below right.

In Brisbane:-

At the 4-Ring Flash Felines show, held on 5 October, There were excellent Aby  performances in all categories  Michael & Sue Shawn's Tawny female, Osiris(V) Norma Jean, was Best SH Kitten (out of 41) in two rings. "Marilyn" is shown below left. Among the cats, Sandra Doyle's Tawny male, Cenglow The Real Deal (Gr Ch Merindalee Patrick Swayze X Cenglow Danube) was Best SH Cat in one ring (out of 36) and second in another, while Michael & Sue's Tawny Male, Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sammy Davis Jr (Ch Osiris(V) Baron Von Richthofen X Osiris(V) Ballroom Dancer), was Best SH Cat in another ring. The two boys are shown below centre, with Dealer on the left of the photo with Sandra and Sammy on the right with Judge Val Harney. Among the desexed cats, Christine Mangin's Tawny spay, ACF Silver AoE & Sapph Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Lucrezia Borgia (Ch Cannonball of Wonderlove (Imp GER) X Osiris(V) Judge Judy) did even better than at the last show, and was Best SH Desexed Cat (out of 15) in two rings and 2nd in another. below right.

In Sydney:-

At the last Championship show of the year, the 3-ring Blue Point Siamese Society show on 4 October, J. Marshall Jefferson's Wyangan Bee Keeper was Best Gr 3 Neuter (out of 10) in one ring. Ben White & Wendy Newton's Tawny female, Swift Tui (Merindalee Sam I Am X Swift November Rain), was Best Gr 3 Female Cat (out of 10) ione ring, and R/U in. Her photo is below left. George & Julie Kennedy's CCCA Emerald Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Ghost (Nat Show Ch, CCCA Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Phantom of Hope and Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sioux City Sue), was Best Gr 3 Female Cat in the remaining ring, and went on to be Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 54) in that ring. She became a CCCA Diamond Tpl Gr Ch on the day, only the second Aby to "max out" since these awards began, and the first since her great-great uncle, Nile Oberon, in 2001. She is shown below left.

In Melbourne:-

The Melbourne Royal 3-ring cat show was held on 30 September and 1 October. At it,  Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny male, Merindalee Insp Clouseau (Gr Ch Fin Bheara's Fortune's Hand (Imp USA) X Merindalee Once Upon Atime), was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 10) in two of the rings. He is shown below left with Karel. Not  to be outdone, the Pittaways' adult Tawny  male,  CCCA Gr Ch & Diamond Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford  (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Merindalee Demi Moore) was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 15) in two rings and Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 33) across the three rings. He is shown below right with Eileen.

In Perth:-

At the Perth Royal Show on September 27-29, Carole Carroll's Tawny Somali female kitten, Joylincar Dream Baby Dream (Joylincar Storm Chaser X Joylincar Dream Catcher) Was Best Kitten in Show (out of 35) in one of the two rings. Photo to come.

In Toowoomba:-

The 4-Ring Exotic Cat Club show, held on 28 September, featured excellent Aby  performances, Michael & Sue Shawn's Tawny female, Osiris(V) Norma Jean, was Best SH Kitten (out of 30) in one ring. She is shown below left. Their male, Osiris(V) Touch Of Love (Osiris(V) Fast Talker Too X Osiris(V) Claudia Schiffer), was Best SH Kitten  in two rings, 2nd in another, and Best SH Exhibit overall (out of 75); he appears below right. NSW Country:-

Three shows have been held in the NSW boondocks, the common thread being that the one cat did well at all three. What with that and only one photo being available, they get a single entry here. The cat in question is Kay Cooper's  Tawny neuter, CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile  Fortunati (Swift Rock The Kasbah X CCCA Emerald Tpl Gr Ch & Diamond Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Ghost). At the 3-ring Tamworth Show on 30 August, he was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 6) in all three rings. Betty Mitchell's CCCA Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Tijah Miss Dior and Paul & Julie Fitzhenry's  Ch Nareira Wyanet shared honours for Best Gr 3 Spay (out of 3).

At the 3-ring North Coast Show on 20 September, Fortunati was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 11) two rings,  and Wyanet was Best Gr 3 Spay (out of 6) one of them. Finally, at the 3-ring Temora Show on 27 September, Fortunati was Best Gr 3 Neuter Cat (out of 5) in one ring and 2nd in another. He is shown below with Kay.

Near Wollongong:-

There weren't many Abys at the 3-ring Illawarra show on 14 September, but most of them did well enough to be mentioned here. George & Julie Kennedy's Cinnamon female, Nile Sangria (Dbl Gr Ch Kemenkat Razzmatazz (Imp NZ) X Dbl Gr Ch Kemenkat Wind Dancer (Imp NZ)) was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 16) in one ring and 2nd in another. She is shown below at  1. Michelle Lorenzi's Tawny male, Wyangan Phantom Chances (CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante X CCCA Gr Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bees Knees Chances) was Best Gr 3 Male Cat (out of 9) in one ring, and appears below at 2 with Michelle. Michelle's Tawny female, CCCA Gr Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bees Knees Chances (Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat (Imp USA) X Osiris(V) Chances Are),   was Best Gr 3 Female Cat (out of 12) in all three rings and Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 21) in two of them. He is shown below at 5.

In Brisbane:-

Several Abys did quite well at the 3-ringBritish Shorthair show on 14 September, but two of them did particularly well. One was Michael & Sue Shawn's young Tawny female, Osiris(V) Norma Jean (Highgaitpaws American Edition (Imp USA) X Osiris(V) Special Witness), (below left, fuzzily) who was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 39) in One ring. The other good performer was the Shawn's Tawny female, Osiris(V) A Star Is Born (Kemenkat Murphys Law (Imp NZ) X Osiris(V) Shining On), who was Best SH Cat (out of 26). She went on to be Best Overall SH Exhibit (out of 71), and appears below right.

Several Abys and one Somali did well at the Australian Cat Club show on 7 September. Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny male, Merindalee Insp Clouseau (Gr Ch Fin Bheara's Fortune's Hand (Imp USA) X Merindalee Once Upon Atime), was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 13) in one of the two rings. He is shown below left with judge Alan Raymond. The Pittaways' adult Tawny  male,  CCCA Gr Ch & Emerald Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford  (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Merindalee Demi Moore) was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 15) in one ring and Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 39) in that ring. He is shown below 2nd from left with Eileen.

Kaylie Goodrick's Tawny spay, ACF AoE Brz & Dbl Gr Ch Narleekatz Elusive Diamond (Narleekatz Blue Illusion X Narleekatz Aussie Diamond) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 11) in one ring, and is shown 2nd from right, trying to obscure Kaylie. Lee Clark's Tawny Somali Neuter, Gold Gr Pr Shilabo Catch Me Ifyoucan (Gr Ch Gunsmoke's Woodford Reserve (Imp USA) X Glenmaulyn Egyptian Jewel) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat in the other ring, and is show below right with Lee.

In Perth:-

Amazingly, the words "In Perth" are being used for only the second time this year! In Perth, then, show attendances have fallen off, and not only among Abys and Somalis. Still, one of  them, Lynne Moorman's Tawny neuter, ACF Nat Pr, ACF AoE & Plat Gr Ch Nareira Calvin Cline (Tilsim dan Bruno Banani X Ch Joylincar Marrakech) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 12) in one of the two rings of the British Shorthair show on 7 September. He appears in the splendid photo below.

At the 3-ring NSW CFA Fundraiser show on 6 September, Michelle Lorenzi's Tawny male, Wyangan Phantom Chances (CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante X CCCA Gr Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bees Knees Chances), at his first adult show, was Best Gr 3 Male Cat (out of 9) in one ring, and appears below left with Michelle. His mum, CCCA Gr Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bees Knees Chances (Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat (Imp USA) X Osiris(V) Chances Are),  Michelle's Tawny female, was Best Gr 3 Female Cat (out of 13) in one ring and second in another. She is shown with Michelle below right. At the Burmese Specialty & All-Breeds show on 24 August, Aby kittens did very well again. Michael & Sue Shawn's Tawny male, Osiris(V) Touch Of Love (Osiris(V) Fast Talker Too X Osiris(V) Claudia Schiffer), was Best SH Kitten (out of 28)  in one of the three rings; he appears below left. Michael & Sue's Tawny female, Osiris(V) Hearts Desire (Kemenkat Murphys Law (Imp NZ) X Riverfern Zeta Leporis), was Best SH Kitten in another ring, and  is shown below right.

In Adelaide:-

The shows just keep coming! At the most recent one, the FASA Winter Show on 24 August, Sue Allen's Tawny neuter, Vivace The Boy From Oz (Dushara Frank My Way (Imp DNK) X Vivace Dolce Aphrodite), was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 28) in two of the three rings. He is shown below left with judge Julia Nicholls.  Evelyn & Rita Bruche's Tawny Aby neuter, Brz Dbl Gr Ch Vivace King Amonasro (Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee King For A Day X Vivace La Divina), was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (also out of 28) in the first ring, second in the 2nd rings and 3rd in the 3rd. He is shown below right, obscuring a judge this time.

In Adelaide:-

At the Rex & Burmese Cat Fanciers' show on 17 August, Evelyn & Rita Bruche's Tawny Aby neuter, Brz Dbl Gr Ch Vivace King Amonasro (Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee King For A Day X Vivace La Divina), continued his winning run. He was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 15) in one ring and R/U in the other ring. He is shown below, doing his best to obscure Rita!

In Newcastle, NSW:-

Abys did very well at the at the 3-ring Newcastle & Hunter Valley show on 16 August. Among the desexed cats, Tracey Jack's Tawny neuter, Johari Shaka Zulu (Tijah Rush In Blue X Johari Jubilee), was Best Gr 3 Neuter (out of 11) in two rings, and R/U in the third ring. His photo appears at 1 The entire cats' day belonged to George & Julie Kennedy's CCCA Emerald Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Ghost (Nat Show Ch, CCCA Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Phantom of Hope and Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sioux City Sue), who was Best Gr 3 Female Cat (out of 11) in two rings, and then Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 19) and Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 57) in one of them, and finally Supreme Cat (out of 79). She is shown at 2.

Among the kittens, Michelle Lorenzi's Tawny male, Wyangan Phantom Chances (CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante X CCCA Ch & Brz Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bees Knees Chances), was Best Gr 3 Male Kitten (out of 5) in all three rings, and Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 21) in one of them. He went on to be R/U to Supreme Kitten (out of 52), and  is  shown at No. 3. George & Julie Kennedy's Cinnamon female, Nile Sangria (Dbl Gr Ch Kemenkat Razzmatazz (Imp NZ) X Dbl Gr Ch Kemenkat Wind Dancer (Imp NZ)), was Best Gr 3 Female Kitten (out of 10) and Best Gr 3 Kitten in one ring, and then Supreme Kitten and Supreme Exhibit in Show (out of 131). She is shown at No. 4.

Michael & Sue Shawn's Tawny female, Osiris(V) A Star Is Born (Kemenkat Murphys Law (Imp NZ) X Osiris(V) Shining On), was Best SH Kitten in the other ring, and Supreme SH Kitten. She is shown below right with Michael and Sue.

At the 2-ring CVI show on 3 August - a seemingly very popular date for shows - Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny female, Cenglow Magic Miss  (Gr Ch Merindalee Patrick Swayze X Cenglow Danube) was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 18) in one ring and R/U in the other ring. She is shown below with Eileen and judge Isobel Johnstone.

In Adelaide:-

At the Foreign Shorthair show on 3 August, the honours went to an "oldie but a goodie"; Lori Fergusson's Tawny Somali Neuter, CCCA Gr Ch, ACF AoE, Supreme Dbl Gr Pr & Jade Dbl Gr Ch Vivace El Tigre De Oro (Gold Dbl Gr Ch Vivace Virtuoso X Ikati Big Spender), was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 26) in in two of the three rings, and Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 83) in both of them. He is shown here with visiting US judge Gary Veitch.

In Sydney:-

At the 3-ring GCCFV Winter Follies show on 27 July, Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny male, CCCA Ch & Emerald Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford  (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Merindalee Demi Moore) was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 26) in one ring and R/U in the other two rings. Aby cats – entire and desexed – did well at the 3-ring Western Districts show on 26 July. Carol Collins's Tawny male, Osiris(V) Simply Perfection (Kemenkat Murphy's Law (Imp NZ X Riverfern Zeta Leporis (Imp UK)), who did so well as a kitten earlier this  year, was Best Gr 3 Male Cat (out of 11) in one ring and R/U in another. He is  shown at below left with Carol. Tracey Jack's Tawny neuter, Johari Shaka Zulu (Tijah Rush In Blue X Johari Jubilee),  was Best Gr 3 Neuter Cat (out of 8) and Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 16) in two rings, at his first show as an adult. He is shown below right. Honourable mention goes to Ben White & Wendy Newton's young Tawny male kitten, Abytawe Benny Andthe Jets ( CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante X Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Golightly), who placed (out  of 11) in all three rings, with 2nd, 3rd and 5th Gr 3 Male Kitten placing.

In Brisbane:-

The CCCA National Show was held in an excellent venue on 19-20 July. This 8-ring show was well run and had a good attendance: in Group 3, there were 94 kittens, 60 cats and 23 desexed cats  entered. Abys performed excellently but there were very few Somalis present.

KITTENS: Sandra Doyle's Tawny male, Cenglow The Real Deal (Gr Ch Merindalee Patrick Swayze X Cenglow Danube), did extremely well, with three  Best Gr 3  Kitten wins and one second place. See him in photo 1, with Sandra. Also well performed was Michael & Sue Shawn's Tawny male,  Osiris(V) Touch Of Love (Osiris(V) Fast Talker Too X Ch Osiris(V) Claudia Schiffer) also did well, with two R/U Gr 3 Kitten placings. He is in photo 2, with Michael. The Shawns' Tawny female, Osiris(V) A Star Is Born (Kemenkat Murphys Law (Imp NZ) X Osiris(V) Shining On), was 2nd Gr 3 Kitten in one ring.

CATS: Michael & Sue Shawns' Tawny female, Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Elizabeth Arden (Gr Ch Osiris(V) Baron Von Richthofen X CCCA Ch, Dbl Gr Ch & Sil Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Osiris(V) Prada), was Best  Gr 3 Cat in one ring, and got 4th & 5th placings in other rings. Where she won, she went on to be Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 177). She is in photo 3. The Shawns' Tawny male, Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sammy Davis Junior (Gr Ch Osiris(V) Baron Von Richthofen X Osiris(V) Ballroom Dancer), did his share of  winning, with one Best Gr 3 Cat win, a 2nd, 3rd and 5th placings. Christine Mangin's Tawny Spay, ACF Brz AoE & Plat Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Lucrezia Borgia (Ch Cannonball of Wonderlove X Osiris(V) Judge Judy) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat in one ring and 3rd in another. Aby kittens and desexed cats did best at the 3-ring St George show  on 13 July. Among the former,  Michelle Lorenzi's Tawny male, Wyangan Phantom Chances (CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante X CCCA Ch & Brz Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bees Knees Chances), was Best Gr 3 Male Kitten (out of 9) in one ring and R/U in another. He is  shown at No. 1 with judge Karen Moore. His litter brother,  Michelle's Tawny neuter, Wyangan Bee Keeper, got a Best and two R/Us (out of 5) among Gr 3 Desexed Kittens, and is shown at No. 2, also with Karen Moore. Ben White & Wendy Newton's Tawny female, Swift Tui (Merindalee Sam I Am X Swift November Rain), was Best Gr 3 Female Kitten (out of 21) in one ring and R/U in  another ring. She is shown at No. 3, in what is undoubtedly the cutest photo so far this year!

Among the desexed cats, it was a tale of two Tawny spays. Ben White & Wendy Newton's CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Swift Djemila (Gr Ch Johari Africander X Ch Cenglow Sweeter Than) was Best Gr 3 Spay (out of 7), and is shown at No. 4. He was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 25) in one ring and R/U in the other two rings. He is shown one item below on the left, with judge Kathryn Hill. H

A father-and-son combination did well for Evelyn & Rita Bruche at the Persian Breeds show on 25 May. Their Tawny male, Brz Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee King For A Day (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Cenglow Elle Macpherson), was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 28) in one ring and 3rd in the other ring. His son, the Bruches' Tawny Neuter Gr Ch Vivace King Amonasro (Brz Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee For A Day X Vivace La Divina) did even better and was  Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 25) in both rings). In Canberra:-

The 30th Abyssinian Breeder show is being called by many as the best for very many years. We had four rings, a wide spread of winners among the nearly 50 top exhibits, and excellent dinner on Saturday and three memorable presentations to GK, celebrating the 30 years of the show. To top it all off, the weather was splendidly warm – the best in decades.

KITTENS – The results here we clear-cut. Carol Collins's Tawny male, Osiris(V) Simply Perfection (Kemenkat Murphy's Law (Imp NZ) X Riverfern Zeta Leporis (Imp UK)) was Best Kitten (out of 22) in three rings, He then went on to be Supreme Kitten and R/U to Supreme Exhibit (out of 45) (out of 54), and is shown in photo 1. Dale Plummer's Tawny Somali male, Ikati Jabulani (Shilabo Keifer X Ikati Asha) was Best Kitten in the remaining ring, and R/U to Supreme Kitten. He is shown in photo 2.

CATS –  The results here were as clear-cut as in kittens, despite the field  being very high class. Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny male, CCCA Ch & Emerald Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford  (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Merindalee Demi Moore) was Best Cat in three rings (out of 14), and went on to be Supreme Cat and Supreme Exhibit (out of 16) in the three rings. He appears in photo 3. Michael & Sue Shawn's Tawny female, Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Elizabeth Arden (Gr Ch Osiris(V) Baron Von Richthofen X CCCA Ch, Dbl Gr Ch & Sil Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Osiris(V) Prada) was Best SH Cat in the other ring, and R/U to Supreme. DESEXED CATS –  Even though there were only seven desexed cats, they were all pretty good, the four rings all had different winners, and the final results were quite close. Kay Cooper's Tawny Neuter, CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Fortunati (Swift Rock The Casbah X CCCA Ruby Tpl Gr Ch & Diamond Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Ghost), was Best Desexed Cat one ring (out of 7) and also got a 2nd and a 3rd. He was Supreme Desexed Cat and is shown in photo 5. At the Birman Cat Club of Canberra show on 17 May, Abys and Somalis not only outperformed all other Shorthair breeds, they outnumbered them! There were 38 Abys and Somalis out of a total of 54 Shorthair exhibits, present for what was effectively a dress rehearsal for The Abyssinian Breeder show the following day.

KITTENS – Carol Collins's Tawny male, Osiris(V) Simply Perfection (Kemenkat Murphy's Law (Imp NZ) X Riverfern Zeta Leporis (Imp UK)) was Best SH Kitten (out of 27) in one ring, 2nd in another and 3rd in the 3rd. He then went on to be Best Overall SH Exhibit (out of 54). "Bookie" is shown with Carol on the left of the leftmost photo. Two of Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny female kittens also did well, with one Best SH Kitten win  each. One was Merindalee Kiss Me Ketut (CCCA Ch & Emerald Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford X Cenglow Elle Macpherson), who then went on to be R/U to Best Overall SH Exhibit. She is shown with Eileen to the right of Carol in the first photo. The second of the Pittaway girls to win was  Cenglow Magic Miss (Gr Ch Merindalee Patrick Swayze X Ch Cenglow Danube), shown with Eileen in the second photo from the left.

Two of Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny female kittens did well that the FCC open show on 4 May. Merindalee Dorothy Lamour (Gr Ch Merindalee Dumbledore X Ch Merindalee Angelina Jolie) and Merindalee Kiss Me Ketut (CCCA Ch & Emerald Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford X Cenglow Elle Macpherson) were each Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 26) in in one of the three rings. They are both shown below with Eileen, Dorothy on the left and Ketut on the right. Between them is the Pittaways' Tawny male, CCCA Ch & Emerald Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford  (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Merindalee Demi Moore) who outdid them all by being Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 12) and Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 49) in all three rings.

In Adelaide:-

At the Cat Fanciers' show on 4 May, Evelyn & Rita Bruche's Tawny Neuter, Gr Ch Vivace King Amonasro (Brz Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee For A Day X Vivace La Divina) was at it again  He was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 26) in the one and only ring, and then Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out 70) in show. "Fonzie" appears below.

In Perth:-

At The 6-ring Paws and Claws show on 26/27 April, Maureen Campbell's Tawny Somali male, Shilabo Jack Daniels, bred by Dale Plummer in Melbourne from Ikati Reynard and Shilabo Guinn Pepper, was Best Gr 3 Kitten in four rings, 2nd in the 5th rings and 3rd in the last ring (out of 25). In one of the rings where he was best, he was also Supreme Exhibit (out of 147). He is shown below with Maureen and judge Michele Ristuccia.

In Brisbane:-

The best performers at the 3-ring Curly Coats Cat Club show on 27 April were two Tawny spays, each of whom was Best Shorthair Desexed Cat (out of 10) in one ring. One was Christine Mangin's CCCA Ch, ACF AoE & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Lucrezia Borgia (Gr Ch Cannonball of Wonderlove (Imp GER) X Osiris(V) Judge Judy), shown below left. The other was Michael & Sue Shawn's 6½-year-old Nat Show Ch, CCCA Ch, ACF AoE, VIC & QLD Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Influenced Buyou (Gr Ch Rififi of Wonderlove (Imp GER) X Tijah Influence); Yon is shown below centre. Christine Mangin's Tawny male, Abysrok Pagliacci (CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante X Abysrok Amore Mia Bambina) also deserves a mention, for being 2nd Shorthair kitten (out of 60) in one ring and 3rd in another. He is the fuzzy one below right

In Sydney:-

Local Abys did quite well at the Sydney Royal Easter Show during 19-21 April, but visiting interstate Abys did even better. Michael & Sue Shawn's Tawny male from Brisbane, Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sammy Davis Junior (Gr Ch Osiris(V) Baron Von Richthofen X Osiris(V) Ballroom Dancer) was Best SH Cat (out of 42) in two rings and 2nd in the remaining ring. He was then Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 116), and then went on to be Supreme Exhibit (out of 239), the first Aby Supreme at the Royal in living memory! He is shown below left. His travelling companion, the Shawns' Tawny neuter, CCCA Tpl Gr Ch, ACF Nat Premier & Ruby AoE, Dbl Diamond Dbl Gr Ch, Tpl Plat Dbl Gr Ch & Supr Ch Osiris(V) Fast Talker (Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat (Imp USA) X CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Osiris(V) Running Bear) was Best SH Desexed Cat (out of 24) in one ring. He is shown 2nd from  left.

George & Julie Kennedys' CCCA Ruby Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Ghost (Nat Show Ch, CCCA Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Phantom of Hope and Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sioux City Sue) was 2nd Gr 3 Cat in one ring and appears below right.

In Adelaide:-

Evelyn & Rita Bruche's Tawny Neuter, Gr Ch Vivace King Amonasro (Brz Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee For A Day X Vivace La Divina) did well at the Southern Districts show on 20 April. Indeed he did supremely well.  He was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 14) in one of the two rings, then Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out 52) in the ring, and finally Supreme Exhibit in Show (out of 95). He is shown below with judge Cheryle U'Ren and the winner's rosette.

In Geelong, VIC:-

At the Geelong All Breeds show on 13 April, The Pittaways' Tawny male, CCCA Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford  (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Merindalee Demi Moore) was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 9) in all three rings. See his photo at Shepparton, four items down. Melissa Mitchell's Tawny neuter, Willowpark Ned Kelly (Tijah Flying High X Merindalee Party Time) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 13) in tone ring.

In Adelaide:-

At the (GCCFV) BOSH show on 13 April, Kaylie Goodrick's Tawny Spay, ACF AoE & GRP Narleekatz Elusive Diamond (Narleekatz Blue Illusion X Narleekatz Aussie Diamond), was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 2) in all three rings, Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 15) in two of them, and then Best Overall Exhibit in Show (out of 78) in one ring. In Sydney:-

No Abys or Somalis won at the Easter Show Cat & Kitten Carnival on 12 April. The best performance came from Ben White & Wendy Newton's Tawny female,  Swift Tui (Merindalee Sam I Am X Swift November Rain), who was R/U to Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 34) in one of the three rings. She is shown below

In Shepparton, VIC:-

The Shepparton Agricultural show on 6 April was small, but featured good Aby performances. Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Tawny female, Merindalee Dorothy Lamour (Gr Ch Merindalee Dumbledore X Ch Merindalee Angelina Jolie) was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 16) in both rings. She is shown below left with judge Joan Henderson. The Pittaways' Tawny male, CCCA Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Harrison Ford  (CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Merindalee Fortune Teller X Merindalee Demi Moore) was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 6) in one ring, and is shown below right with judge June Overy. Michelle Lorenzi's Tawny female, Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bees Knees Chances (Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat X Osiris(V) Chances Are) was Best Gr 3 Cat in the other ring.

In Sydney:-

There were a total of 21 Abys and Somalis out of a total of 168 exhibits at the State Championship Show on 5 April, and they did well. Among the kittens, new owner Tracey Jack's Tawny neuter, Johari Shaka Zulu (Tijah Rush In Blue X Johari Jubilee) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Kitten (out of 4) in two rings and 2nd in the other ring; he is shown below left with Tracey. Ben White & Wendy Newton's Tawny male, Johari Zambezi (Shaka Zulu's litter-mate) was Best Gr 3 Male Kitten (out of 5) in all three rings, and is show below 2nd from left. Finally, Debbie Thomas's Tawny Somali female, Nareira Issey Miyake (below centre) , was Best Gr 3 Female Kitten (out of 16) and Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 25) in two rings.

Among the cats, George & Julie Kennedys' CCCA Ruby Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Ghost (Nat Show Ch, CCCA Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Phantom of Hope and Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sioux City Sue) was Best Gr 3 Female Cat (out of 11) in two rings, Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 19) in one of them, and 8th All-Breed Exhibit (out of 168) overall – she appears below 2nd from right. Last but nor least, Ben White & Wendy Newton's CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Swift Djemila (Gr Ch Johari Africander X Ch Cenglow Sweeter Than), Tawny spay shown below right, was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 18) in one ring.

In Goulburn, NSW:-

At the Goulburn Agricultural show on 22 March, Michelle Lorenzi's Tawny Male, Wyangan Phantom Chances (CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante X Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bees Knees Chances) was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 14) in two of the three rings, and appears below left with Michelle. Her Tawny female, Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bees Knees Chances (Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat X Osiris(V) Chances Are) was Best Gr 3 Cat (out of 10), and went on to be Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 40) in that ring. She is shown below centre with Michelle. George & Julie Kennedys' CCCA Ruby Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Ghost (Nat Show Ch, CCCA Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Phantom of Hope and Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sioux City Sue) was Best SH Cat in the other two rings, and Best SH Exhibit in one of them, but she didn't seem to care much, as you can see below right. Kaylie Goodrick's Tawny spay, ACF AoE & GPN Narleekatz Elusive Diamond (Narleekatz Blue Illusion X Narleekatz Aussie Diamond) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 10) in one ring, and Best Exhibit in that ring (out of 145). At the Canterbury All-Breeds Championship Show on 16 March, Kirsty Young's Tawny female, Zahari Sahara Star (Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sweet Talker (Imp AUS) X  Ch Zahari Rising Star), was Best SH Kitten in Show (out of 11) and 2nd in another ring (out of 4 rings). She is shown below left with judge Jo Millar. Kirsty's Tawny male, Ch Ankober Alcazar (Osiris(V) One Cool Dude (Imp AUS) X Ankober Maika), bred by Thelma Blythen, was Best SH Cat (out of 17) in one ring and 2nd in another ring. The Siamese Cat Society held its show on March 15, under the auspices of the new governing body, Cats NSW.  There were two Abys present, and Carol Collins's Tawny male, Osiris(V) Simply Perfection  (Kemenkat Murphy's Law (Imp NZ) X Riverfern Zeta Leporis (Imp UK)), was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 12) in one of the two rings, and went on to be Best Gr 3 Exhibit (out of 23) and 3rd Overall Exhibit (out of 48) in that ring.

There was an excellent turn-up of Abys at the Siamese & SH show on 9 March, and excellent performance, led by the kittens.   Carol Collins's Tawny male, Osiris(V) Simply Perfection  (Kemenkat Murphy's Law (Imp NZ) X Riverfern Zeta Leporis (Imp UK)) was Best Gr Male Kitten (out of 12) in two rings, and Best Gr 3 kitten (out of 35) in one of them. Among the cats, George & Julie Kennedy's Tawny female, Abytawe Shirley Bassey (CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante X Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Golightly), was Best Gr 3 female cat (out of  21) in one ring. Last but not least, Ben and Wendy's Tawny spay, CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Swift Djemila (Gr Ch Johari Africander X Ch Cenglow Sweeter Than) was Best Gr 3 Spay Cat (out of 5) in one ring.

Eileen & Karel Pittaway's Merindalee Dorothy Lamour (Gr Ch Merindalee Dumbledore X Ch Merindalee Angelina Jolie) was Best Gr 3 Kitten (out of 25) in one ring and 2nd in another; she is shown below. Kaylie Goodrick's Tawny spay, Ch Narleekatz Elusive Diamond (Narleekatz Blue Illusion X Narleekatz Aussie Diamond) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 11) in one ring.

There were only two Abys, both desexed cats, at the QICC Council show on 9 March, but they acquitted themselves very well. Amanda Ashby's Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bears Jive Talker (Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat (Imp USA) X CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Osiris(V) Running Bear) was Best SH Desexed Cat (out of 11) in one ring, and Christine Mangin's Tawny spay, ACF AoE & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Lucrezia Borgia (Gr Ch Rififi of Wonderlove (Imp GER) X Osiris(V) Judge Judy) as Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat in the other three rings. In Adelaide:-

AT the GCSA Kitten & Neuter show on 2 March,  Summer Show on 23 February, Evelyn & Rita Bruche's Tawny Somali  Neuter, Vivace King Amonasro was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat (out of 18) in both rings. A son of Dbl Gr Ch Merindalee King For A Day and Vivace La  Divina, he is show below, looking rather nonchalant.

In Adelaide:-

At the season-starting FASA Summer Show on 23 February, Anne Kitland's Osiris(V) Bonne Chance, a Tawny female from Gr Ch Osiris(V) Baron Von Richthofen and Osiris(V) Chances Are, was Best Gr 3 Kitten in one ring (27).  Not to be outdone, Evelyn & Rita Bruche's Tawny Somali  female, Vivace Harmonia Mau was Best Gr 3 Kitten in the other ring. She is shown below  and was bred from Ch Dushara Frank My Way (Imp DNK) & Vivace Dolce Aphrodite. Best Gr 3 Cat in one ring was Anne Kirtland's Osiris(V) Talk Softly To Me, a Tawny male bred from Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat and CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Ch Osiris(V) Running Bear  .

In Brisbane:-

Possessing Australia's busiest show scene, SE Queensland held the  the QFA Council show on 23 February, at which one of the members of Chrissy Mangin's young new litter, the Tawny male Abysrok Pagliaccio (CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante X Abysrok Amore Mia Bambina) was Best SH Kitten (out of 63) in one of the three rings. He is shown below left. Michael & Sue's Tawny male,  Ch Osiris(V) Sammy Davis Junior (Gr Ch Osiris(V) Baron Von Richthofen X Osiris(V) Ballroom Dancer) continued his purple streak and was Best SH Cat (out of 31) in two of the three rings. He is shown below centre. Amanda Ashby's Sil Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bears Jive Talker (Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat (Imp USA) X CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Osiris(V) Running Bear) was Best SH Desexed Cat (out of 15) in one ring, and is shown below right.

In Canberra:-

The first Championship show of the year in NSW/ACT, the Canberra Royal on 22 February, several Abys present, and three of them did particularly well. Among the kittens, Ben White and Wendy Newton's Tawny female, Swift Tui, was Best SH Kitten (out of 17) in one of three rings, and second in another ring. She comes from a mating of Merindalee Sam I Am and Swift November Rain, and appears below left. Among the cats, George & Julie Kennedy's Tawny female, Abytawe Shirley Bassey, was Best SH Cat (out of 17) and Best SH Exhibit (out of 40) in one ring. She was bred by Kay Cooper from CCCA Ch & Gold Dbl Gr Ch Nile Argante & gR Ch Nile Holly Golightly, and appears below centre. The Kennedys' CCCA Sapph Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Holly Ghost (Nat Show Ch, CCCA Tpl Gr Ch & Dia Dbl Gr Ch Nile Phantom of Hope and Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sioux City Sue) was Best SH Cat in the other two rings, and Best SH Exhibit in one of them. At the Gold Coast show on 8 February, Amanda Ashby's Sil Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Bears Jive Talker (Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws Have A Chat (Imp USA) X CCCA Gr Ch & Sapph Gr Ch Osiris(V) Running Bear) was Best SH Desexed Cat (out of 10), while Christine Mangin's Tawny spay, Sil Dbl Gr Ch Osiris(V) Lucrezia Borgia (Gr Ch Rififi of Wonderlove (Imp GER) X Osiris(V) Judge Judy) was Best Gr 3 Desexed Cat in the other two rings; she appears below left.  Michael & Sue's Tawny male,  Osiris(V) Sammy Davis Junior (Gr Ch Osiris(V) Baron Von Richthofen X Osiris(V) Ballroom Dancer) was Best SH Cat (out of 13) in all three rings, and went on to be overall Best SH Exhibit (out of 61). Johari Shaka Zulu (Tijah Rush In Blue X Johari Jubilee) was best Gr 3 Desexed Kitten (out of 2) in two of the three rings. This Tawny neuter was bred by Carol Collins and is owned by new exhibitor Tracey Jack. Among the Somalis, Debbie Thomas's Tawny Somali female, Nareira Coco Mademoiselle (Zabenka Champagne Charlie X Ch Nareira Coco Chanel) was Best Gr 3 Female Kitten (out of 29). Finally, Carol Collins's Osiris(V) Simply Perfection, a Tawny male bred from Kemenkat Murphy's Law (Imp NZ) and Riverfern Zeta Leporis (Imp UK), was Best Gr Male Kitten (out of 14) in all three rings, Best Gr 3 kitten (out of 45) in two of them, and overall Supreme Kitten in Show (out of 80).
